The Bards Comic

Dragon Press Graphics -2002 Commissions :<p> Horse for Snacks' Father

I have a scan of the photo from the magazine here, (which is a copy of the magazine, not the actual magazine print, so don't worry sir, I did not draw on your magazine!) I have my first attempt at drawing the horse free hand, and scaled up to the size of the page. You can see it didnt' work very nicely. BUT! I did not give up, and there, next to it, is the second try, its really too bad you can't see how it originally looked before I inked it in and tried to see where the important lights would be. I used the age old 'circles' technique you'd find in those "How to" books...hehe.

Anyway, Snack said his father wanted this picture to be in the same style as the Wolf Picture that I have on the Prints page. As you can see from looking at the rest of my work, that is not my NORMAL style. It was an experiment that turned out good. And though I didn't know if the horse would come out quite the same (he's not furry!), I figured it was worth a try to try and expand my styles.

If you think I was successful in pulling off this style once again, let me know! My email is dragonpress@bogotron.net Snack, you can show your father the site and let me know if he likes what I've done or not, so I can fix it up (in case he doesn't) before you get here in February and I send this back with you.

Here is the finished piece. Please judge. Okay I lied. here is the second one is the REAL finished piece:

After putting this piece aside, I went back and looked at it, and I just FELT that something was totally missing. Too much white space. So, talking it over with other artists in the house (Jody Ruszkowski), we came up with a million ideas I wanted to try. I finally settled on what is now here.
