This is set up for artists who need inspiration - a showcase of how much someone CAN improve, if they keep it up, and don't GIVE up, no matter how much you think you suck.
The original "As The Umbra Turns" was simply a dialogue, written late at night in my Junior Year of college (so somewhere in 1997-1998), when I was bored and I wanted to type and had no subject. I believe I must have been chatting with someone when I remembered an old game joke 'As The Umbra Turns" and took it from there.
Original Dialogue
After I wrote the dialogue, I was then given a class project (same year) to do a major undertaking of something you wanted to do with your life. So I turned it into my first attempt at a comic.
It was a total of 7 pages plus a cover and advertisements....and boy was it lame. But I was ever so proud of it then.
Then, somewhere on the order of about 2 1/2 years later, I decided to RE-DRAW the entire thing. Because When I moved, I found the old book and said, "Oh gawd! This is HORRIBLE! I'm sure I can do better now!"
Since this project wasn't anything important, or anything I could publish, I didn't actually spend alot of time on it. Sometimes I did several pages right then, and other times there would be MONTHS between the pages I did. SO aside from the progression you see between the first comic and the second version of the same comic, you will ALSO see a sort of progression IN the second version of the comic. It has taken about 2 or 3 years to have everything completley drawn. And as it is, I still haven't finished the last steps (the computer steps)
So, without further ado - the comics themselves.
